Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music Announces Departure of Executive Director Javier Caballero

The Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music is announcing that Javier Caballero, Executive Director, will be stepping down from his role at the end of the summer season to pursue another professional opportunity. While we are saddened by his departure, we are excited for the new adventures that lie ahead for him and are incredibly thankful for his exceptional contributions to Apple Hill.

Javier joined Apple Hill in 2022, bringing nearly 20 years of experience as an arts leader, educator, and cellist. He guided Apple Hill through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping us continue operational and financial stability while fostering a warm, welcoming community. Leading the organization during a time of transition, he bolstered the inclusivity of Apple Hill’s Playing for Peace mission, navigated the return to full enrollment for its summer workshop, and expanded national and international partnerships. His unwavering dedication to Apple Hill’s spirit and legacy has been truly inspiring.

Javier’s passion for artistic excellence, music education, and social justice has left a lasting impact on our community. “There is a lot that I will miss about leading Apple Hill,” says Javier. “As an alum, it’s brought me the deepest pride and joy to work closely with the Apple Hill String Quartet, Board, staff, students, faculty, educational partners, and our incredibly devoted supporters. Being able to connect with the Apple Hill community all across the Monadnock region, the U.S., and the world has been profound.”

We are deeply grateful for his leadership and the many ways he has enriched Apple Hill.

To ensure a smooth transition, Apple Hill has formed a Transition Committee to oversee the search for a new Executive Director.
