The donor-advised fund (DAF) is an increasingly popular way to make a charitable gift. A DAF allows you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax benefit and then make grants from the fund over time to Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, an IRS-qualified public charity. If you have already established a DAF and would like to recommend a grant or distribution to Apple Hill, please direct your check to Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music and mail to P.O. Box 217, Sullivan, NH 03445-0217. We would appreciate if you would notify Apple Hill of your recommendation. Apple Hill is a 501c3 organization and is eligible to receive gifts from family foundations.
The Charitable IRA Rollover may provide you with a mechanism for transferring your annual Required Minimum Distributions as a charitable contribution, excluding the distributions from your taxable income while simultaneously supporting Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. This rollover is an attractive option if you either don’t want or don’t need the extra taxable income from your IRA’s required minimum distribution. You can also make a gift by a bequest of your IRA to Apple Hill in your will. You avoid the estate tax and your beneficiaries avoid paying income tax on the proceeds. If you are making a gift to Apple Hill from your IRA, please inform Rebecca Sayles, Development Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 603-847-3371.
A gift through a bequest in your will or naming Apple Hill as the beneficiary through another planned gift vehicle (such as a retirement account, living trust, or life insurance) can perpetuate your belief in the mission and goals of the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. Apple Hill may be included in a will by naming it to receive a specific dollar amount or a percentage of an entire estate. Such a provision may be added to an existing will by codicil. Bequests that allow the gift to be put toward a project of greatest need at the time it is received are particularly welcome. Once you complete your estate plans, please let us know so that we may thank you for your generosity by including you in Apple Hill’s Legacy Society.
To leave a gift in your will, simply share this sentence with your attorney or financial planner:
I bequeath $ _____ or % _____ of my estate to Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, Nelson New Hampshire.
Here’s why one donor was inspired to leave a legacy to Apple Hill:
There are two reasons I support Apple Hill. The main reason is that my late husband, Steve Rosenthal, loved going to Apple Hill. Steve was on the Board of Trustees for many years and went to the Summer Chamber Music Workshop from 2003-2013. He just loved it. He introduced me to Apple Hill, and when he died unexpectedly and tragically in 2014, I reached out to Apple Hill Director Lenny Matczynski because I wanted to do something to honor Steve. The second reason is that I now have a new husband, who has spent every summer of life in Peterborough, NH. His family is from the area so I’m introducing them to Apple Hill.
Many companies offer employer-sponsored matching gift programs that match charitable contributions made by their employees. If you or your spouse work for a company with a matching gift program, contact the human resources department for your company’s policy. As a donor, you will be recognized for the total amount contributed to Apple Hill by you and your employer.
