Gabriela Diaz, violin, is a survivor of Hodgkin’s Disease and is committed to cancer research and treatment. She formed the Boston Hope Ensemble, which presents chamber music concerts in cancer units and has organized benefit concerts for cancer research organizations. Devoted to contemporary music, she has worked with many significant living composers. In 2003 she won a competition to perform John Zorn’s Contes des Fees with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Diaz is a graduate of the New England Conservatory, where she received the John Cage Award and the Chadwick Medal.
