Santiago Vazquez-Loredo, viola

Born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina, Santiago Vazquez-Loredo began his musical studies at the age of 11 through his hometown’s public school system. He has appeared as a guest musician with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with ensembles including the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. He held a one-year contract with the Minnesota Orchestra for the 2025–2026 season. As a chamber musician, Santiago has appeared at the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, Bowdoin International Chamber Music Festival, and the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. In 2021–2022, his quartet was selected as an Honors Ensemble at the New England Conservatory and was a semifinalist in the Senior Division of the Sphinx Competition. He has served as violist and teaching artist with the Newport String Project in Newport, Rhode Island, and as violin and viola faculty at the South Shore Conservatory in Hingham and Duxbury, Massachusetts. Santiago has earned degrees from East Carolina University where he studied with Ara Gregorian and Hye-Jin Kim, and the New England Conservatory, where he studied with  Kim Kashkashian.
