This summer The Cello Seminar will be hosted by the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in rural Nelson, New Hampshire. The seminar will focus on adaptivity and creativity with participants involved in solo pieces, cello and piano duos, cello quartets and octet projects. Included in the six days are lessons, masterclasses and presentations culminating in a concert on Sunday, June 12th.
The Cello Seminar, open to young professional and professionally bound cellists, is designed to explore music written for the cello by twentieth and twenty-first century composers. The wide range of repertory studied, from classics to newly commissioned works, will feature pieces by Carter, Chacon, Esmail, Lachenmann, Saariaho, Tower, Montgomery and Harvey and others.
