Usually summer at Apple Hill means strains of chamber music drifting across campus. This summer, with our workshop online, the air was filled with a different kind of music to our ears: the sounds of construction. After a pause due to the pandemic, construction on Apple Hill’s central campus renovation project began again in the fall and has been making great strides. Thank you to our generous donors for your support!
Through the summer and fall, Facilities Manager Richard Anderson and his crew completed exterior work including the foundation, framing, insulation, and roofing. During these colder months, they are making progress on the interior, including a new first floor rest room, new electric, plumbing, and heating systems, and new equipment and tiling in the downstairs bathrooms. Once the snow and ice thaws, they’ll begin a new and improved kitchen porch, a larger entrance and lobby off the porch, a new accessible ramp to the Concert Barn, siding, and a new deck in the back for outdoor meals.
By the time it’s safe for us to once again gather in the Concert Barn, audiences, students, and performers will be able to enjoy our improved facilities, accessibility, kitchen, and Green Room. The Concert Barn itself will be just as you remembered it—filled with memories of 50 years of music.
