Usually summer at Apple Hill means strains of chamber music drifting across campus. In 2020, with workshops and concerts online, the air was filled with a different kind of music to our ears: the sounds of construction. After a pause due to the pandemic, construction on Apple Hill’s central campus renovation project began again, and by late summer 2021, the project was in its final stages. Thank you to our generous donors for your support!
Facilities Manager Richard Anderson and his crew have built an addition behind the Concert Barn to extend the kitchen, Winter Rehearsal Room (now known as the Green Room), breezeway, and basement space, and added a restroom on the main level. They have built a new kitchen porch and a brand-new deck between the Concert Barn and Green Room. Before next summer, they will finish the downstairs, including replacing the old bathrooms and showers, adding a new, accessible bathroom/shower, expanded storage areas, and three new practice rooms.
By the time it’s safe for us to once again gather in the Concert Barn, audiences, students, and performers will be able to enjoy our improved facilities, accessibility, kitchen, and Green Room. The Concert Barn itself will be just as you remembered it—filled with memories of 50 years of music.
